It's still all mainly about the Melo (look whose picture is prominently placed at the top of this page!), and what we're in to, up to, and trying to do, and all of the other good bits in between.

What a weekend!

Despite dire predictions of snow, we managed to avoid any real snow or ice. We even Ventured out to McMinnville to visit the most awesome EVAR fabric store: Boersma. It was a good thing I didn't venture over to their sister knitting store - I was too drained after the wonders of the fabric store. They had it all - literally. ALl my favs: Amy Butler fabric, Holly Jolly fabric and others from Sandy Gervais (favorite fabric designer du jour), jelly rolls and charm packs, wool felt. Very dangerous place that I will be sure to let Chrissie and Traci know about! I'll post some pics one of these days, but I have to be careful since there are a some likely Christmas presents in the works!

Oh. My. Goodness

I'll have to blame Chrissie for showing me this most awesome dessert cookbook. It is evil, but oh so good. I've already made the captain crunch bars (think rice crispy treats), with the modification using peanut butter instead of butter. If you do that with peanut butter captain crunch, it is peanut buttery goodness. I'm drooling right now thinking about which dessert I'll make this weekend.

Best Rom-Com since Pretty Woman

I didn't think I was going to like it much, but I have to admit it . . . I loved the movie 27 Dresses. I didn't just like it, I really really liked it - I must have gotten misty about a 1/2 dozen times, but it struck all the right notes, was really funny, the best friend character is hysterical (lines reminiscent of "cinder-f&^%ing-ella" quality from Pretty Women), and who know the guy who played Cyclops could actually be cute without the lame dialog and a barrette on his head. Anyway, I loved it - plus it had a great ending, and I am a sucker for a good ending. It is good enough that Josh might even like it and I'd be willing to see it again. Unlike Cloverfield, which wound up giving me a nightmare that made me scream in my sleep (enough to wake Josh up). So, if you're looking for a funny, lighthearted movie, go see it!

what a weekend!

the first weekend after the first week of work. We celebrated PK's birthday with karaoke to the wee hours at the Alibi and the Boiler Room, giggling like 4th graders with the new catch phrase to add to the end of every sentence: 'in my pants'. Then we got to hang with the McLaughlins on Saturday with Busters and a trip to the new digs for A Common Thread. It was good practice quilt shopping for the upcoming Shop Hop. Sunday was a bit bittersweet since the Cowboys lost (why Romo, why?). It may have been a blessing in disguise that I had a knitting class for the 2nd half-Jeff would not have been a happy camper! With Seattle and Dallas now both out of the running, I'm pulling for Green Bay. One of these days soon I'll venture down stairs and hook up the camera and upload some photos - especially the WIPs.

Jenn's KING 5 Action Photo

Woo hoo - go Jenn!! Props for getting your photo picked for Channel 5 (KING 5). Looking back at my long periods of
non-posting, it seems I also forgot to give a shout out for Josh's
photo of Mt. St.Helens blowing off some steam that was picked up by CNN.com, visible here.

The First Day

Yep - I love my new job. Yes, yes, it is the honeymoon period and all, and the most stressful thing I did today was figure out how to fill out my benefit forms, but I love it. I left at 5:03, and I was the last one there (because I was still filling out the aforementioned benefit forms. Also, I discovered that in addition to a view of the river and the steel bridge, I also am right by the building where one of the news copters lands, which is pretty dang cool close up. I'm still a bit nervous about when I actually have to do work, since I hope I can figure out how to do something not billable in 6-minute increments! While I do miss the folks over at the old job (who very very graciously sent me a huge bouquet of flowers), but I am--in the words of a college dormmate--very super excited.

I think I could get used to this unemployed gig

It's kinda nice. Drive Josh to work. Come back, shower, snuggle with Melo. I've managed to take down some of the gazillon ornaments from the tree, and even went thru some of my work boxes. I'm leaving all the Bar stuff til tomorrow - too many forms. Today, it is off to the zoo with Chrissie, Leina and Kulia - hope there are some polar bears!
